Artist to install sculpture at Pasteur Square

TEHRAN, May 19 (MNA) – Iranian artist Behruz Darash is to install his new sculpture at Tehran’s Pasteur Square, ISNA reported on Friday.

Darash has finished the design and will soon begin the installation work, which is expected to take about a month.

Based on the model of the design, six nine-meter columns with images of birds in flight overhead are to be set up in the middle of the square.

Darash is an artist who pays great attention to space, light, and time.

In his view, empty space is the most important aspect of art. He focuses on this in his works, which he believes evokes existential feelings.

He has also been commissioned to create a series of works depicting Iran’s epic heroes in battle to be set up in front of Azadi Stadium by the end of the Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2007).

All of these works are part of a program to install artworks throughout the city implemented by the Urban Beautification Organization of the Tehran Municipality

Pasteur Square is located on Kargar St.
